The Jesus MeetUp Honor Men Week #25
Men are undeniably valuable not only to women, but our world at large.
The great benefit of men.
Men are logical.
84:6.4 “Women seem to have more intuition than men, but they also appear to be somewhat less logical.”
Definition of logical: adjective
1. Reasoning or capable of reasoning in a clear and consistent manner.
"He is a very logical person."
Men can focus with non-distracted clarity on a task. They can often work on a project with greater direction and precision than a woman. This is why it may behoove a woman to resist distracting a man when he is working on something important to him [or her]. Give him encouragement and appreciation while respectfully allowing him the time he needs to complete his focused work on a given project.
Men long to be a hero.
Although a man may not tell you straight out, he longs to be your hero a man nonetheless deeply desires to feel important and needed. This means they may give their all to serve one who respects them AS a man.
Men perceive ‘love’ as respect and honor.
When honored, men will surprise a woman with what they will do in loving service. Men may behave with great courage in the face of danger and with greater physical strength in moments of crisis.
100:4.5 “In the mind's eye conjure up a picture of one of your primitive ancestors of cave-dwelling times — a short, misshapen, filthy, snarling hulk of a man standing, legs spread, club upraised, breathing hate and animosity as he looks fiercely just ahead. Such a picture hardly depicts the divine dignity of man. But allow us to enlarge the picture. In front of this animated human crouches a saber-toothed tiger. Behind him, a woman and two children. Immediately you recognize that such a picture stands for the beginnings of much that is fine and noble in the human race, but the man is the same in both pictures. Only, in the second sketch you are favored with a widened horizon. You therein discern the motivation of this evolving mortal. His attitude becomes praiseworthy because you understand him. If you could only fathom the motives of your associates, how much better you would understand them. If you could only know your fellows, you would eventually fall in love with them.”
Man can be inspiration-ally loyal.
Van, a male:
67:3.6 “Throughout the seven crucial years of the Caligastia rebellion, Van was wholly devoted to the work of ministry to his loyal army of men, midwayers, and angels. The spiritual insight and moral steadfastness which enabled Van to maintain such an unshakable attitude of loyalty to the universe government was the product of clear thinking, wise reasoning, logical judgment, sincere motivation, unselfish purpose, intelligent loyalty, experiential memory, disciplined character, and the unquestioning dedication of his personality to the doing of the will of the Father in Paradise.”
Jesus said, “Be perfect even as I am perfect”. A man who understands his purpose in life can become a force to be reckoned with in all of the best of ways as true, beautiful and good. The love of a sincere, unselfish, clear thinking, wise, loving and disciplined character can become one of our most valuable entities in our lives. Choose to encourage him over trying to ‘manage’ him. Let him be free. Watch what amazing things he will do!
Men are fantastic problem solvers.
90:3.3 “The primitive mind may be handicapped by lack of facts, but it is for all that logical. When thoughtful men observe disease and death, they set about to determine the causes of these visitations,…”
Men enjoy being our great problem solvers. Not only has God wired them up to be so helpful but He has given them the ability to attack challenges with astonishing success and vigor. Add to this that men enjoy a good challenge and you have the makings of one of the greatest gifts ever given to you. Honor and appreciate him. Watch and see what happens.
Men are capable of incredibly strong character.
139:1.10 “Andrew was a man of clear insight, logical thought, and firm decision, whose great strength of character consisted in his superb stability. His temperamental handicap was his lack of enthusiasm; he many times failed to encourage his associates by judicious commendation. And this reticence to praise the worthy accomplishments of his friends grew out of his abhorrence of flattery and insincerity. Andrew was one of those all-round, even-tempered, self-made, and successful men of modest affairs.”
Andrew had a substantial impact on those in his life at the time of Jesus’ bestowal on our world. As the CEO of the apostolic group, Andrew insight-fully and logically set about to do the will of His Father. Jesus asked him to make decisions for the group and he did this with excellence. He was S.T.A.B.L.E. Andrew resisted the greatest error of pride. And for this quality he is given high praise by our Revelators. However, Andrew was a regular kind of guy. We can learn a lot about men from this wonderful example of Andrew, an apostle of Jesus.
Men are WILD and this is a good thing!
84:3.6 “The herdsman looked to his flocks for sustenance, but throughout these pastoral ages woman must still provide the vegetable food. Primitive man shunned the soil; it was altogether too peaceful, too unadventuresome [men are wild]. There was also an old superstition that women could raise better plants; they were mothers. In many backward tribes today, the men cook the meat, the women the vegetables, and when the primitive tribes of Australia are on the march, the women never attack game, while a man would not stoop to dig a root. “
Men are WILD at heart! They long for the adventure/s in life. Some women make the great mistake of cajoling a man into being more like herself. The strength of woman is found in different areas from a man [running a home, caring for children, meeting the needs of extended family etc…] and she would do well to value the physical fact that man is able to complete tasks that are well suited for him and possibly beyond her physical ability in terms of abject strength. Let a man be wild sometimes. They enjoy this. Enjoy this with him and you might discover a new depth of friendship.
Men enjoy shared experiences.
The vast majority of men enjoy things like sports, fixing things together, and sex. These are all shared experiences. They connect with others while ‘doing’ things together. Oftentimes women will complain about men because they do not talk as much as their female friends do. However, we suggest you try something: Engage in an activity with a man and THEN try more talking. We are pretty sure what may come to pass over time. Once this is understood and practiced the relationship quite possibly will change for the better.
84:7.8 “But the home as an institution, a partnership between one man and one woman, dates more specifically from the days of Dalamatia, about one-half million years ago, the monogamous practices of Andon and his immediate descendants having been abandoned long before. Family life, however, was not much to boast of before the days of the Nodites and the later Adamites. Adam and Eve exerted a lasting influence on all mankind; for the first time in the history of the world men and women were observed working side by side in the Garden. The Edenic ideal, the whole family as gardeners, was a new idea on Urantia.”
The differences between man and woman.
84:3.5 “Among the more advanced races, women are not so large or so strong as men. Woman, being the weaker, therefore became the more tactful; she early learned to trade upon her sex charms [shared activity]. She became more alert and conservative than man, though slightly less profound. Man was woman's superior on the battlefield and in the hunt; but at home woman has usually outgeneraled even the most primitive of men.”
84:6.6 “Men and women need each other in their morontial and spiritual as well as in their mortal careers. The differences in viewpoint between male and female persist even beyond the first life and throughout the local and superuniverse ascensions. And even in Havona, the pilgrims who were once men and women will still be aiding each other in the Paradise ascent. [Listen ladies: You will FOREVER need your male associates!]. Never, even in the Corps of the Finality, will the creature metamorphose so far as to obliterate the personality trends that humans call male and female; always will these two basic variations of humankind continue to intrigue, stimulate, encourage, and assist each other; always will they be mutually dependent on co-operation in the solution of perplexing universe problems and in the overcoming of manifold cosmic difficulties.”
If woman will need man all the way up to Havona then we can easily comprehend that we need our men NOW and TODAY in our very troubled world numbered 606, in our local system.
To the appreciation, respect and honor given to the men of our world who
have been given to us as our gifts by our Paradise Father.
Questions to discuss:
1. For the men: How does this information affect you? Why?
2. For the women: How does this information affect you? Why?
3. Will this information change the way you relate to others in your personal life?
4. How might this information change the way our problems are solved?
Now is a good time to say The Lord’s Prayer together. Consider writing down a prayer request to give to your leader.
